Pictures presents in association with Virtual Studios, a Silver Pictures production in association with Anarchos Productions Inc.; produced by Grant Hill, Joel Silver, Andy Wachowski, Larry Wachowski; screenplay by The Wachowski Brothers; directed by James McTeigue.

Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, the story of a young working-class woman, Evey, who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked man known only as 'V.' Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, 'V' ignites a revolution when he urges his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression. As Evey uncovers the truth about 'V's' mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself. She becomes his ally in his plan to bring freedom and justice to a cruel and corrupt society. (Another movie that originally began life as a graphic novel, this plot originally was set in Thatcher's England of the mid 1980's. One could argue that, no matter what Alan Moore thinks, this film has not lost one whit of relevance for today, and that the plot device changes to make it fit in today's England haven't hurt it one bit in watchability or cohesiveness. The central message of citizen abdication of duty and eventual awakening holds up. -jen)
